Heya, A little work from a student.

Post by Hideto »

UPDATE: after previewing I've noticed that the order is not as described, but I think you'll understand which is which. Hi, I'm a dutch creative student and here's some work of mine. It's not the best work I've done, but it was the most complete. The first one should speak for itself, like every ad shouldn't need any explaining, I say should, because I'm hoping that it will speak for itself. The second one is for cuban flights and is to attend to the fact that when Fidel dies, the cuba as we know it will be over, so to create a sense of urgence in going there while it's as we know it to be( old cars and all that ). So the label portraits cuban culture as we know it. The third one is a series of three, but they are practically the same but with different people, what is important is that they themselves do not give out light, but the one looking at then is. So far for me taking up your time then. Hope you'll let me know what you think or where some ads may lack.

The Blinding whiteness one...overdone.
The Cuban cigar bit...ok-ok.
The Mac one...so-so.
Good tries. But not good enough.

2nd one, creative.

Needs some artwork, but the relation you created between the habano and the country is good. If I were you, I've taked all that text except the main short one.

I'm sure I'm a bother now but here's some more I hope shantyarow does like. I've updated the macstore thingy, it's a instore poster, right before new G's come out btw. The others read: Thankfully our startersmortgages ARE ready out of the box, you have to know IKEA for this one. And Yeminio could you explain how I can change the artwork for the cuba ad? Thanks anyways.
Kris.

Hi Dutch Student. There are lot of non Desis, but I am surprised how did you know what is Desi?

I love your art. True dutch. Your idea about Colgate is fine, but overdone. However I will accept it as even the seasoned pros come up with used ideas all the time. Just open an archive.

Cuban Cigar, hmmmm, I think you could have done something else, I mean it is ok, but not great.

Ikea, I love them. Great art again. All those wallpaper looks, ha ha so KK>

Nice.

I go the Junior academy for art direction ( how appropriate huh ). You can check the website but it probably won't say much to you: www.junioracademie.com . And DesiPimp I don't really know what desi is, or I have an idea but i don't really understand the meaning behind it. I just read about it on wikepidia :D . And now I can finnaly rest again now that I've got shantyarow's approval, scrolling around the forum, he seems to be the hardest critic around here. Anyways gracias for the critiques. I've decided not to put the cuban ad in my portfolio after a little thinking.
Cheers,
Kris.

Well, I wasn't so specific.

I personally like to mix the conceptual ad with the good artistic one.
That is why I think its the best there. Conceptually talking about I mean. Maybe the others work bette, who knows. And well, the scenario looks good. When I told you that it needs more artwork I was focusing in the fire and the smoke that doesn't look too real at all. The rest its ok :P

anyway, how long you have in the school studing art direction? I love it. Im student too :D

I've been studying art direction for about 2,5 years now. We began just learning how to draw well and then all about photoshop, indesign and illustrator, a lot of us dropped out and now I'm in my senior year. And after that it's internship time. Art direction has become everything to me, artistically, competitively and ambitionally, if that makes any sense. I've always been very, very visual but art by itself never made any sense to me, good ads did. And thanks for thinking it was 3d software :p . It's all photoshop layers, the ikea ones, but the object itself is a foto, the rest were just flat textures I used. What ad/art school do you go to?
