Ray and Keshavan

Post by vikas »

One design agency in India which I have really always liked is Bangalore based Ray and Keshavan.

Dont be fooled by their rather annoying flash based oldschool site, they are pretty thourough in their work (and web design is NOT their forte).

Here's Rayandkeshavan from Wikipedia.
Ray and Keshavan (commonly referred to as Ray+Keshavan), based in Bangalore, is South Asia’s leading brand consulting and design company. Founded by Sujata Keshavan and Ram Ray in 1989 in New Delhi, Ray+Keshavan was India's first brand design consultancy[1]. Sujata Keshavan has been the company's managing director since its inception.
Ray+Keshavan is regarded as having played a pioneering role in developing the branding industry in the region. From 2005 onwards, the firm has focused more on corporate branding. Brand Reporter magazine has credited Ray+Keshavan for having "introduced the principles of brand development in India"[2]. It offers the full spectrum of branding services: brand strategy, positioning and architecture, naming, identity systems and online strategy. According to Bharat Entrepreneurs "It is not an overstatement to say that one will find at least one logo or brand that is designed by R+K for every 100m in any Indian metro".[3]
Ray+Keshavan has developed comprehensive branding programs for India’s industry leaders such as AirTel[4], Infosys, Kotak Bank, Himalaya, Bank of Baroda, J&K Bank, Network 18, MAX Healthcare amongst many others. More recently, Ray+Keshavan has successfully completed brand transformation projects for Canara Bank, Shoppers Stop, Arvind Ltd, Trident Hotels and Ceat.
In 2006, Ray+Keshavan was acquired by the WPP Group[5] and now is part of The Brand Union network.

I agree with you, Vikas.

They are a Brand and Strategy firm, nothing got to do with advertising. But they are good at their work.
They have done work on some most popular brands in India — Airtel, Himayalaya, MTR, Infosys and lot others

pixelfiesta, i came across this rationale for the airtel logo.
It says "The Airtel logo is a specially drawn woodmark. It incorporates two solid, red rectangular forms whose counter-form creates an open doorway. The title case lettering with its capital ‘A’ reinforces our leadership position. Thered dot cues in our focus on innovation. Our logo is a reflection of our identity – a confident symbol of a brandthat is always ahead of the rest , always ‘In-touch’ and on customer’s side."
Wow, you would say. But then think of this:
Apple is probably the only company not to use its name in its logo. Yet, the Apple logo is one of the most recognized corporate symbols in the world.
Thinking?
