We would like to announce an “open source” design contest for a Blogswana logo. (”Open source”? WTF?)
Although we love the Regulus theme we have on this blog (thanks to the designer, Ben), we need a logo that is ours and ours alone. So we would like to ask all the designers out there, professional and amateur, to take a stab at creating one for us.
The winning design will be featured on a t-shirt we will offer, through Cafepress, for sale as a fund-raiser and as a way to increase awareness of both the organization and the issues it addresses.
Designers should send a URL to a page featuring their design to blogswana[at]gmail[dot]com. We will post each link here on the blog. Although we will not have a voting system to select the winner, we will certainly pay attention to the comments left about each design.
Since we are a non-profit (with an emphasis on the “non”), all we can offer the winning designer is Everlasting Glory and Smug Self-Satisfaction. And a couple of t-shirts. We will, however, announce the winner here on Blogswana and put a permenent link to the winning designer’s homepage, online portfolio or blog in our blogroll.
Here are some things to keep in mind while creating your version of the Blogswana logo.
We need to clearly communicate who we are and what we’re up to
The project will take place in the real country of Botswana (no Zulu shields or leopard print, for mercy’s sake)
We are NGO 2.0
