Prasoon Joshi has a new feather in his cap. The executive chairman of McCann-Erickson India and regional creative director, Asia Pacific, was honoured as the No. 1 creative director in the Asia Pacific region at the recently held Media AOY (agency of the year) Awards in Hong Kong. This is the first time an Indian creative director has been honoured thus in the region.
Following Joshi on the list were Andy Blood, Whybin/TBWA; Nils Andersson, Greater China Ogilvy Group; Kitty Chaiyaporn, Publicis Thailand; and Thirasak Tanapatanakul, Creative Juice/G1.
The honour comes right on the heels of Joshi being chosen jury chairman for the Outdoor category at Cannes 2008.
Joshi was also declared Creative Person of the Year for the number of awards McCann has won under his leadership and for path-breaking work like the Happydent commercial.
Joshi says, “It feels great when a reputed and highly respected organisation honours you. It’s a testimony to the fact that we at McCann-Erickson are committed to providing a sound product with cutting edge creativity.”
