r u into animation
can u tell me of a WYSIWYG type of animation software (pc or mac, preferably mac)? basically what is the easiest animation software u know of?
Flash?
I guess animation is the same everywhere. add keyframes.
you looking for 2d i guess? tried ToonBoom studio?
if you are coming from your wonderful posts on a stylised product illustration (which has many a peopl drooling), I guess you can take a look at Cinema 4D XL with a Sketch and Toon Module. Will keep you posted on this one.

Everyone is lining up to render 3D scenes with Sketch and Toon.
Render engines, including CINEMA 4D and its Advanced Render Module, have become incredibly powerful and have made it easier than ever before to create high-quality, photorealistic imagery.
Many users long for the simpler life, though, and will find their solution in the non-photorealistic rendering capability of CINEMA 4D's module, Sketch and Toon.
Sketch and Toon has the ability to create so many different styles of 3D renderings, its name is almost misleading. Architects and engineers will enjoy the clean and precise technical illustrations it provides, while artists will appreciate its ability to render 3D scenes as a quick scribble or charcoal sketches.
A variety of shading engines make it easy to create illustrations ranging from halftone stills to cel-rendered animations.
NPR- and raytrace-rendered objects can be combined in a single scene for unique styles.
An abundance of control and plenty of flexibility gives the user the opportunity to create almost any desired effect.

wow i love the car illustration style. why did u post that? is it animated? and no flash won't do what i want to do. i have a software that helps create drawings and then i can view the drawings from any angle i want (3d with camera view). but that's about it. i want to (need to) animate that in the exact style i have created. flash would mean frame by frame. too painful.

hello sriradhadc!
i use a Mac and am afraid cant help you on Windows.
All i can say is get a Mac.
Easy? I would look for something thats affordable and let me do a lot. You could try the maya learning edition (a free download from Autodesk).
You could get (again for Mac) a now defunct software called Pixels 3d, a full featured 3d Software distributed for free.
what do you do? whats the level of expertise/work you are looking at?
you can try the following FREE JAVA based cross platform compatible tools:
http://mystudio.sourceforge.net/
(myStudio is a free/open source 3D Modelling, Rendering, Animation Studio & Movie Editor for all platforms support Java Virtual Machine. )
Version 0.5
Support objects : Polygon Cube, Sphere, Cylinder, Cone ..., B-Spline Mesh, Triangle Mesh.
Modelling tools : Extrude, Lathe (Revolve) , Skin, Array, Align, Offset...
Boolean operations: Union, Different, Subtract.
Triangle mesh editing functions: Bevel, Extrude, Smooth, Subdivide, Skew, Tape, Thicken...
B-Spline mesh editing functions: Skew, Tape, Smooth...
Integrated powerfull Beanshell scripting engine.
Support multiple undo/redo.
3DS Max modelling style.
Procedural Textures.
Support UV, Prjection, Sphere, Cylinder, Cubic mappings.
Built-in: Raster & Raytracer rendering engines.
Rendering engines support: Soft shadow, Depth of Field, Antialiasing, Monition Blur, Photon mapping: Global illumination, Caustics effect ...
Camera filters: Saturation,RGB, Outline .
Some kind of lights: Direction, Point, Spot lights.
Environment map, fog effect...
Support keyframe animation, path-follow animation, texture animation...
Skeleton base animation: support Invert Knimatics, Pose objects...
A lot of animation tracks: Distortion Track (Shatter, Scale, Twist, Bend..) Position, Rotation Tracks, Contrainst Track...
Sound syncs.
Easy use with a professional user interface.
Built-in a simple movie editor for animation production.
Free of charge, distributed under GPL licence.
http://dune.sourceforge.net/
(dune is a simple 3D modelling and animation tool for the authoring of VRML (Virtual Reality Modelling Language). dune is a weekend hack that went horribly, horribly wrong. dune is delicious and nutritious. dune is fun for the whole family.)
http://aoi.sourceforge.net/
(Art of Illusion is a free, open source 3D modelling and rendering studio. It is written entirely in Java, and should be usable on any Java Virtual Machine which is compatible with J2SE 1.4 or later.
The current version is 2.3, released May 20, 2006. This version is both stable and powerful enough to be used for serious, high end animation work. Many of its capabilities rival those found in commercial programs. Some of the highlights include subdivision surface based modelling tools, skeleton based animation, and a graphical language for designing procedural textures and materials.)
http://www.jpatch.com/
(
JPatch is a spline based 3D modeling tool (a patch modeler). It can be used to create 3D models for POV-Ray or RenderMan® compatible renderers (e.g. Aqsis).
It is free software (open source); you can redistribute it and/or modify it under the terms of the GNU General Public License.
JPatch is work in progress. The current version (JPatch 0.4 PREVIEW 1) supports modeling and some very basic animation features (the modeler supports the creation of morphs, these morphs can be controlled via sliders in the animator). The development version already has support for bones (including muscle morphs), but is (at this time) too instable to be useful.)
Hope that helps. I also hope you soon start posting your work...

you can also try Strata 3D
http://www.strata.com/
You can import Illustrator vectors into strata and render them.
Strata is used by a veritable who's who of clients and some of the most talented artists in the world. And Strata 3D technology has been used for industry changing projects such as MYST and MTV.com, and by corporations such as Sony and Warner Bros.
Take a look at what these artists have achieved, who some of their clients are and how they work. You'll see creative professionals in virtually every area of design, illustration and multimedia imaginable.
