I mean I always thought MICA was more 'management' and business side of advertising and places like NID were more focussed on creative. What has been your experience? Whats the course like?
Kikikikikiki bleach-treated my avatar! Isn't she sweet?
Well, we have a program called Crafting Creative Communication which is basically an advertising oriented program. It is mainly divided into copy writing and art direction module. At the end of our program (9 months) we have to submit a portfolio on which we are graded.
The experience has been healthy, though there are a few lacunae like less emphasis on new media. Eventually more and more industry professionals are visiting MICA to share their experiences which does add value to this course.
You don't have to shine to be discovered, you have to be hidden.
No one in advertising seems to be looking at new media. Its all about TVC TVC TVC. In fact ifn you dont have TVC in your reel, you probably wont find a job.
I do agree to an extent, except there are a few new media evangelists we could learn from. Plus its 'new media' so a little resistance is obvious, yet this is what conceals new avenues of communication.
