Seeking expert feedback to improve 'imlee'

Post by pixelfiesta »

I am writing on behalf of http://www.imlee.com

imlee is a family social network based on the exciting concepts of family trees. imlee helps you discover & connect with people in your family network. Its primarily targeted at Indian families.

imlee is currently in open beta and we are gathering feedback from various sources. It would be really nice if you could try imlee and give us your honest feedback .

Here is the link to the feedback form — http://goo.gl/h5AqS
Its anonymous and its short. (Please do not fill the form without trying imlee. Its irrelevant)

I look forward to your suggestions and feedback.

ok, here's my feedback.

The home page can be cleaned up a little. I will sketch what I mean and upload later. The logging in can be made simpler. Why do I have to enter my parents' name to become a member? That process takes longer and I don't have the patience.

Plus, after i entered mom and dad's names, I have to enter mathematical code (I understand its to prevent spam entries), plus I got the message "Something sour happened" and was asked to re-register. Now I lost patience.

Hey Pixelfiesta, I really think this is a nice concept. Before commenting on the website i would like to share a personal experience. My grandpa made one of these family tree for me on a chart when i was a child and i still have that safe with me. So basically what i am thinking is now making it on your site and showing him. KIndly share with us from where did you get the inspiration for the website. Was it an experience such as mine.
Also one nice feature is that one can be a member of the family tree even if he doesnt has his email ID, else most of our family trees would have remained sourceless. The icons that comes up if u dont have fotos, are quite appropriate. However as Puja said, there is a lot of white space. There can be a foto of a whole family, right from Grandfather to Great grand sons. And the name really intrigues me, Can u share how you come up with the name.

@Saumya. Thanks for your valuable feedback.
We are working on a lot of things to make your experience at imlee better.

We have taken your feedback and are shortening the registration process.

By sometime next week, you will also be able to login using your facebook account, so you don't have to create an account on imlee. Your relatives listed on FB will automatically be mapped to your imlee account and if you wish to they can be invited as well.

Thanks for your feedback again.

Hey The Irregular,

Thanks for the motivating response. Your story is very inspiring. Do create your family tree and also invite your family members who are active online. Yes having a member online without an email is a nice feature. And extension of this feature would be using imlee on phone via SMS or mobile apps.

Regarding photo of the whole family, we shall also be introducing family albums shortly

The basis for coming up with the name was
• It has to be short
• It has to be Indian
• It has to be different
• It need not have any meaning necessarily
• It has to stick. So basically once you hear it, you should not forget

After a lot of brainstorming and shortlisting of what would work, we arrived at imlee.

Why imlee?
• imlee as a spice is widely used in all regions
• imlee rhymes with 'family' :-)
• imlee is sweet-n-sour just like the Indian khatti-meethi families

Ok, I was able to register this time.

I have an account now. I created the smallest family tree with mom and dad. Its sweet. I like the interface. I like the storyboard feature that will enable people to know what I am doing.

But tell me one thing, with so many people on Facebook and twitter, do you think anyone will have the patience or time to manage another social networking site with its own 'feed' and 'status' etc?

Do you think imlee.com should have a FB plugin, where you can pull/post selected feeds from FB to imlee? or some other kind of interaction between the popular sites?
