What are the job options for copywriters outside advertising?

several.

it really depends on your interest and level of competancy. for a start i am sure u want to be a CD. and then David Innis would tell you what next..

Other things..

Directing TV spots, concepting for TV programs, writing books, syndicated columns, give lectures at university, teach advertising, script writing for films, consultancy (did u know that u can join consultancy like Boston Consultant Group etc etc and get paid top $ and work in cool locations the world over) or even be an enterpreneur. My ex CD in US is working with native indians and helps them set up casinos, another one is an HR consultant, one started her own head hunting firm and one guy I know specialized on an MNC's brands so much that the MNC pays him a fortune for ideas, and he helps them launch brands in new markets.

I guess the sky's the limit.

its surprising that how most people active onthese forums are art people...perhaps reinforces dips' claims about art directors being more pro-active people.

i think art people are visual people who are constantly searching design on the internet, where as a writer can sink in any book?

write film scripts, TV soaps, radio scripts etc.
theres so much to be done.

join Balaji Telefilms as a writer and make a cool 1.5lakhs a month writing dialogue like 'Main tumhaare suhaag ki kasam khaati hoon...'
i believe Balaji TF has enough money to buyt JWT India

Definately you can mint like crazy but then where does one get the leads from, if one wants to write for tv programs, radio scripts etc???Hardly hear of anythin like that in Delhi.
