Videocon's new branding effort

Post by Hasmukh »

Videocon has changed its logo and are working on their image.
Conceived by Interbrand, Singapore, the 'V' in the new logo is representative of the new identity of the brand – an identity that is fresh, dynamic, and has been provided a life of its own. The new 'V' is composed of two animated green, lava-like shapes called Chouw and Mouw, both of which have distinct identities.

Chouw and Mouw are 'live' characters, and will be used through a series of short videos to tell simple stories, each depicting a positive dimension of Videocon's new tagline, 'Experience Change'.
the new logo was unveiled in San Francisco (why I wonder) by Shah Rukh Khan.

What do creaticves have to say?

I dont know if this has been done before or not but I quite like it. Its young and vibrant.
Its much fresher compared to what is happening these days.

I think its a good job done.

Makes me feel, its Logo 2.0 type (like the web 2.0)

I find it funny how a logo change can "improve the lives of the consumers" as the ad says.
It's strange how at times creative guys get carried away with their 'creativity' and create / write communication pieces which the consumer is least interested in. Nowhere does it say what change is it going to bring in the counsumer's life.
The logo again looks like some kid's brand identity. I understand that it should be stylish, but then it should reflect the stature of a electronics giant. I don't know why, Videocon is so frequently changing its brand positioning. They do need a serious thinking, I guess.
