Did anyone participate in the mypopkorn.com Creative Awards?
It has been long and the results have not been announced. Does anyone have the news?
Is there anyone in our community from mypopkorn.com? Plz let know.

What are these awards, smartsanjoo? Never heard of them. The website looks like something for TV serials...

mypopkorn.com is a Essel Group company (the owners of Zee TV). To promote the website, they had come up with a contest for advertising professionals. The topics were to creative TV / Print / Radio communication for Sprite, Virgin Mobile or Uniquely Singapore. The contest received about 2975 entries. After that, there is no news.

i think it was all an eyewash. we wrote emails to them at every email id they have on the site, and they all bounced back. all of them. the last posts on their site have been from April end.

here is a typical post from them to all queries:

We appreciate your interest in myPOPKORN Creative Awards. We also understand the constraints involved in making a Television Ad Film, and considering the same we offer the freedom of shooting the desired film with limited available resources and options viz. a digicam, handycam or even a camera enabled mobile phone. The models utilized need not be professional models, but could also be amateur individuals. The Ad films hence would not be evaluated on the basis of the technology utilized, but on the thoughts, concept, idea, creativity, etc. involved in the same. So what we suggest is that put in that extra effort and success is right there knocking at your door.

Apart from the Cash prize of 1 Lakh and myPOPKORN Creative Awards Trophy, the same Ad film if selected would be produced by the Brand and would be aired on Zee Channels. But Param, it is a Zee TV venture and I don't think they would do something of this sort. Moreover, they will not want to spoil their image... at least with the advertising fraternity.
But if its true, then the 'poor' group might be in big troubles. We should forward our condolences to their management.

Although the winning entries have not been uploaded yet. Congrats to the winners.

The contest was about creating ads for any of the 3 brands - Sprite, Virgin Mobile and Singapore Tourism. The briefs were also given online. The contest received 2975 entries.

I had also sent an entry on Sprite. The brief was simple - 'Seedhi Baat. No Bakwass."
