I am a Copywriter/Creative Technologist based out of Mumbai, India and recently I did a project for an NGO to promote Hepatitis B awareness.

Objective:
Though Hepatitis B is more infectious (almost 100 times) than HIV, people in India at large are unaware of it, even if there is a vaccine for it for prevention. This is the challenge.

Insight:
Recently, Indian Govt. has been acting strange by blocking websites and blogs every now and then. Though people know how to bypass a ban. Using a web proxy site e.g. kproxy, hidemyass .etc.

Idea: Proxy B Movement
While people are using a web based proxy (Proxy A) to access blocked blog/ website, using this opportunity to pass message to get the Proxy B i.e. vaccination for Hepatitis B.

The JavaScript code is available at http://www.proxyb.org with the instructions to add the code on your website/ blog. There is a WordPress plugin too available for the same.

The Proxy B movement has begun and now it appeals to all the bloggers/ webmasters to add the code to their website so in future their blog is blocked and any visitor accesses that blocked blog/ website using a proxy, he is informed about Hepatitis B.

Join the movement at http://www.proxyb.org

was this implemented?

looks promising!

However, ONLY those people bypassing proxies will get to see this. That would be a miniscule percentage. So how is this effective?

Hi Saumya,
Honestly, I'm a lone nut right now who has just started the movement. Have been reaching out to blog networks and other big media websites to put the code on their respective websites voluntarily.
Also, have been trying to convince the owner of savita bhabhi (which is blocked in India) to join the movement.
Apart from this, the plugins for other CMS platforms are in process.
Hoping for the best.

I am trying to reach out to bloggers, as I mentioned above. I agree a small percentage of people will get to know the message. But, it's very relevant and thus they will remember it. Hopefully, will get themselves checked and vaccinated.
The live demo is available at www.proxyb.org and fundubytes.com. Try accessing them via a proxy site.

Lovely concept. Did you do anything similar for a mainstream client?
