i'm showing how the world would be without Spike TV. Without a man's mans channel, the world would be a whole less 1) weaker 2) meat would be supplemented for tofu abstracts, and 3) all the drinks would be diet.

hope that helps!

it seems that there's a lot of communication problems. I'm not sure if it's because of the American culture or not, but i'll test my campaign in some American forums and see how it communicates. If I get similar comments, i'll just take it out of my portfolio.

Thanks,

Dude, its a cultural thing. Maybe if you explained that Spike is a TV channel for men before posting, it would've helped. I like the Tofu on the best. Fresh insight. Pink and weight are overdone

Dude, I dont thik its a cultural think. I understand what you are trying to say but its not hot enough. With the 'metrosexual man' concept, lean body, thin frame, diet food, vegetarianism etc is pretty much an 'in' thing, irrespective of gender. No longer doo most men have scharzennegger or stallone as their idols, but maybe beckham and george clooney. Think harder. What does the typical man think

When you say 'tv for men', what comes to the mind? Sex and sports and beer. Thats the universal cliche but its something thats still pretty much understandable. Strength, Vegetarianism and Colour are perhaps not easily identified with machismo yet. Afterall Aerosmith sang 'pink is my favourite color'.

encyclo...you're right. It is a little cliche to use the pink dumbells and stuff. You're also right about how guys don't really want to be bulky nowadays. However, Spike TV IS about that. Spike TV is about the traditional male and the stereotypes of men. I believe this ad works because of that. Spike TV is a cliche in itself...however..that's also the reason why it doesn't work. It's just a crappy product to work on because you can't hide from being cliche.

Lead, I like the ads...they're simple and straightforward.
My concern is I am still not getting what kind of a men's magazine Spike really is.
Is it like some of the newer, brasher, more brazen lads mags like Nuts, Zoo, FHM, Maxim, etc?
Is it a little more sophisticated and stylish like GQ?
Is it a little of the old world charm meets new age mantras meets eternal 36C centrespreads Playboy?
That's what, in my mind, makes this campaign a little weak.
Do you agree?
