EUROBEST ADVERTISING FESTIVAL INTRODUCES
TWO NEW ENTRY CATEGORIES
MOBILE & PR

London, 17 August 2010 – The Eurobest Advertising Festival has today announced that Mobile and PR will be added as two further award categories to reflect the movements of the industry. Taking place from 7-8 December, Eurobest will now receive entries into a total of thirteen entry sections, all of which will be judged by dedicated juries onsite in Hamburg.

Philip Thomas, CEO of Cannes Lions, organisers of Eurobest commented: "Having consulted with the industry in Europe, and after the huge success of PR at Cannes, Public Relations has been an obvious missing element within Eurobest which we are happy to rectify. And after several years as being the Next Big Thing, mobile has clearly come of age as a communications medium for brands."

With categories including Best Use of Digital PR and Best Use of Media Relations, PR will aim to honour the creative use of reputation management by the building and preservation of trust and understanding between individuals, businesses or organisations and their public.

Mobile Websites, Applications, Video, Games and Technology will all form part of the inaugural Mobile category.

The winners of these categories will be announced at the Awards Ceremony taking place on 8 December at the Curio-Haus, Hamburg, followed by the After Party.

Entries open on 26 August. For more information on how to submit entries, the awards ceremony, registration packages, seminars and much more please visit www.eurobest.com

LINUS KARLSSON & EUGENE BAY
NAMED EUROBEST JURY PRESIDENTS
21 September 2010 – The last two jury presidents are announced for Eurobest 2010, Europe's premier creative advertising and communications awards, which will take place in Hamburg later this year.

The Swede Linus Karlsson, Partner and Executive Creative Director of Mother New York, will head the Integrated Jury. Mother New York, co-founded by Linus in 2003, is a modern creative company at the intersection of advertising, graphic design, packaging, interactive, experience/events, and product development. Mother New York is part of a 13-year-old, independent global agency idea, which includes offices in London and Buenos Aires (Madre). Mother New York’s clients include Stella Artois, Johnson & Johnson, Dell Computers, Coca-Cola, Target, Cadbury, NBC, and more. In 2007, Mother created and launched Dogmatic Gourmet Sausage System, an innovative new fast-food restaurant concept in NYC. In 2009, Mother NY was awarded Agency of The Year by Creativity Magazine.

"I'm very excited to be part of Eurobest this year, especially heading up the Integrated jury. I’m looking forward to seeing some wonderful, crazy good work in this category, which I think could be the most surprising and unpredictable of all categories," said Linus on his appointment.

Amsterdam-based Eugene Bay, Chairman of VBAT, which he co-founded in 1984, will chair the Design Jury. In 1984 he left the UK to become one of the founding fathers of VBAT, then known as Visser Bay Anders Toscani, based in Amsterdam. The new company focused on corporate identity development, FMCG products and brand identity development from day one. A first in the Netherlands design world at that time. Eugene became a board member of the BNO (Dutch Designers Association) in 1988 and served as Chairman from 1990 to 1995. From 2006 to 2009, he was Chairman of PANL (Photographers’ Association of the Netherlands). Eugene has also been nominated to being one of the ADCN (Art Directors’ Club of the Netherlands) Eregalerij (Hall of Fame). Under his leadership, the agency has won numerous awards including a Cannes Gold Design Lion, Eurobest Bronze in Design, 12 ADCN and a highly-competitive Dutch Design Prize.

"Being able to have the luxury to debate with inspiring creative minds is a valuable gift. Leading the group will be an honour," commented Eugene.

Terry Savage, Chairman of Cannes Lions, organisers of Eurobest, said, "Both Linus and Eugene have true leadership skills in their respective fields whilst also encouraging creative thinking. We are delighted to have them onboard for Eurobest."

Now in its 23rd year, the Eurobest Awards form part of the Eurobest Festival, which takes place at the Handelskammer in Hamburg on 7 & 8 December 2010, providing two days of inspiration, debate, learning and networking. Attendees can view all the entries that will be judged during the two-day festival, as well as attend a rich programme of seminars and workshops addressing current issues of the industry in Europe. Delegates registering before 1 November can enjoy an early bird discount. For full information on how to submit entries or attend the Eurobest Festival, please go to www.eurobest.com.
