Fontlab will be hosting four 60-minute workshops at the Linotype TypoTechnica 2007 conference in Frankfurt/Main, Germany. During the event, Yuri Yarmola and Adam Twardoch will:
* discuss the creation of photofonts;
* show how to set up an efficient FontLab Studio 5 working environment;
* explore "kerning hell";
* discuss strategies for improving the screen quality of fonts using automatic and manual hinting techniques.
All Fontlab Ltd. workshops will be held in English. TypoTechnica will also include talks and workshops by top font technology experts from Adobe, Linotype, Microsoft, Monotype, and other companies. Some highlights include talks about best practices and font production workflows as employed inside Adobe, Python scripting using a new font I/O library by Monotype, development of multi-script typefaces and complex-script OpenType considerations by Microsoft, as well as other talks about font technology, font production, font tools, font testing and quality assurance, and the OpenType font format.
