I agree with Ek Kanya. 50% advance is a must. You immediately know the intentions of the client. If he refuses, you know he never intended to pay up.

I have had experiences where the balance 50% never came. So what I do is, double my intended fees and ask for 50% advance. So in a way I get 100% advance. If the balance comes, its a nice. I have also offered major discounts this way to honest and well meaning regular clients.

Make no mistake though. There are enough honest clients out there as well. and if you ork is good, they will keep coming back. there is tonnes of design work out there.

yeah i hv joined a small agency called adfactors where my boss inspires me. at least his print work is superb. and doesn't believe in awards. he used to head triton in the heydays when they used to handle samsung, panasonic and honda, before korean and japanese agencies opened shop.
