Travel Magazine Designer Needed

Post by Paramvir »

Transitions Abroad—the guide to learning, living, working, and volunteering overseas—is a bimonthly newsstand and subscription-based magazine founded in 1977. It focuses on enriching, informed, affordable, and responsible travel. We are a small editor/publisher-owned operation that keeps all design and production in-house. Our current designer of 2 years is leaving at the end of January to start a business with her husband. We are therefore seeking her replacement. We are looking for a freelance designer who works on a Mac and is skilled in Adobe InDesign and has at least basic Photoshop and Illustrator skills. Preference will be given to those with magazine production experience, but this is not essential. Hourly pay starts at $16 and is negotiable. The designer can work from his or her own location. The amount of hours available for work can vary. Our current designer works 100 to 130 hours every month and about 5-15 hours on off months. We are very flexible in this area and can either increase or decrease workload as needed. We are most concerned about finding a capable designer, good communicator, and someone who is dependable and available at least for the bimonthly production months.
