Kyoorius & ZEE come together at a one of a kind Jury session for the Kyoorius Awards

Mumbai, July 26, 2013: Kyoorius, a not-for-profit initiative by Transasia Fine Papers, has been
galvanizing the design community across India since 2006. They recently announced the launch
of the 9th annual Kyoorius Designyatra to be held in Goa over three days from 29th to 31st August,
2013. Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (ZEE), India’s leading Television, Media and
Entertainment Company, is the presenting corporate partner for Kyoorius.
Designyatra will be host to the Kyoorius Awards starting this year, conceptualised by
Kyoorius in partnership with D&AD and the International Advertising Association (India Chapter).
A panel of eminent jury members from across the globe has been selected for these awards,
including professionals like Elsie Nanji, Managing Partner of Red Lion — Mumbai, Tania Singh
Khosla, Founder and Design Director, TSK Design — Bangalore, Hansen Ho, Founder and Creative
Director, H55 — Singapore, Jeremy Leslie, Creative Director, magCulture — London, Simon
Sankarraya, Founding Partner and Creative Director, AllofUs — London, Gabor Schreier, Executive
Creative Director of Saffron, Madrid and Ton Van Bragt, Founding Partner and Creative Director,
Design Team, Kuala Lumpur.
In a never seen before format, the international seven member jury panel was flown down
to the capital to judge entries across all nine categories namely — identity, packaging, communication,
digital, space, books, editorial, craft and design for good. They engaged in open conversation,
discussing entries and criteria on which these entries are being judged on.
Judging of entries was based on three key criteria — the originality of the concept and
visualization, the quality of execution and the relevance and context of the idea.
Rajesh Kejriwal, Founder CEO, Kyoorius commented, “We are very happy with the entries
received this year; our purpose of recognizing originality and innovation in the design space
across all age groups has taken form. We are thankful for the support of ZEE, D&AD, IAA and the
entire jury panel for making the awards a success.”
Mr Bharat Ranga, Chief Content and Creative Officer, ZEE said, “Kyoorius Designyatra has
always been a brilliant platform for connecting with the communicators of India, creating inspiration
and fueling growth and change. We are glad to come on board as Kyoorius’ corporate partner
and support the development of creativity in marketing and communications for the nation —
communication that can make a real difference.”
Talking about the judging experience, AllofUs’ creative director and founder Simon
Sankarayya (Sanky) said, “We’re really excited to see the variety of interesting and engaging
work in the Design space this year. As always due to the calibre of the judges and the invaluable
expertise and insight they bring makes for a great experience for all the jury members.
Most importantly it sends a message to all that entered work that is was judged by skilled
practitioners that cared passionately about awarding great, charming, innovative work.
It’s invaluable to be together here in India for the judging process, all thanks to Kyoorius,
D&AD and IAA India Chapter who worked with the jury members closely on defining a clear
process and understood the importance in cultural understanding of India so that we could
grasp all the local cultural nuances in the entries.”
