star wrote:'fraction of a second' is a figure of speech! Hasnt anyone ever told you 'I explained it to you a million times', when that person must have explained only three times!
Did you ever see such kind of head line in advertising? like "a million time.." when it is not million times?
The advert claims something about their technology and there every second matters a lot. It has be something like believable not just like a sentence that we say in flow.

Truly? (not sarcastic...) if the car stops down to 0kmph from 100kmph in 3.5 secs, can we write that it stops in a fraction of a second?

thats an engine/performance specification.

but 'i thought of the idea in a flash' is a figure of speech. so is 'i will join you in a moment'. AND 'bas two minutes' (maggy takes longer than two minutes. way longer). so 'in a fraction of a second' is not a performance specification but a figure of speech.

Okay! But Maggy people should have done cooking Maggy in 2 minutes somehow, may be in certain highly temperatured conditions, etc, or else they cant claim it. Isnt it?

I saw one of the videos of Piyush Pandey. He was saying that before releasing the fevikwik ad he tested if the fevikwick sticks in water or not (with a rupee coin) to make sure that they go with that concept. And also I think as per laws of advertising (stated in AAAI) one cannot go away with the figure of speeches in advertising... I think so.

Please bear with me if I am wrong :).

JC. Do this experiment:

Say, "Mummy, mummy Bhookh Lagi Hai".
(imagine mummy says "Bus DO Minute"

Now start a stop watch.

Mummy goes into the kitchen, opens the cupboard, takes out a packet of Maggi. Now Mummy opens another cupboard, finds a correct sized cooking pan (if its not available, she washes it). She fills it with a measure of water and puts it on the gas. Now she looks for the gas lighter, ignites the gas. She waits for the water to come to a boil. Now she finds scissors to cut open the Maggi pack. As Murphy's law would have it, she cant find it in a handy place so she uses a knife to slice open the pack. She pours the contents into the boiling water. Now she slices open the masala pack and puts it in the water. She waits for the time the maggi is cooked. (lets say its REALLY TWO minutes. Once cooked, Mummy looks for a plate and fork to serve in, a serving fork. She brings the plate full of maggi with fork to the kitchen table.

STOP THE STOPWATCH NOW.

Add more time if Mummy has to add veggies. The maggi ad ALWAYS shoes veggies. Thats more time for chopping, cleaning, and saute-ing.

was it two minutes? Mummy claimed the kid would get the maggi in two minutes. Was it true? Not really. Its probably ten minutes from claim to serving.

I rest my case.
