hello all!

this is Sandeep, 23 from India...I have been woring as a freelance graphic designer till now as my education i.e. MBA in advertising was going on..

I found this great forum from ads of the world and i think you people can help me as I am looking for break in advertising industry.. i have done my training here in local agency but now seeking a good opportunity in ad world.

basically i am from indore, india and just finish my Post Graduation...now i am looking for job in advertising agency for the post of visualiser
I have been doing freelance work of web and graphic designing during my studies now i am looking for full time job.

if you know any good opportunity for fresher pls let me know,

Sandeep, the best way is to build your portfolio. You should have atleast 5 good campaigns, spec work is fine. Then hit big cities. Best is if you already know people then they can put you the CDs, otherwise it is very difficult to get hold of them.

Also I saw a post here by Diptanshu on jobs...they are look for trainees...talk to him.

Hi Sandeep,

You have some nice work, but I think to be able to break into a mainstream agency you need to be a bit edgy. Thanks to the internet, even the students are exposed to some of the best work in the world and their portfolios show great improvements.

For a start you need to decide what you want to be? A web designer, a graphic designer or an art director?

If an art director then look at the awards sites and try to have to have some nice clean ads...

I saw your site, i think i would make it even cleaner and make the ads much bigger in visual.

But still do not lose hope, i think you can land a job in mainstream ad agencies even with this portfolio. Just kep trying.

hey FC,

I really appreciate your suggestion, as I want to start my career from the bottom...like graphic designer...visualiser...and then art director...I think in this way I will have good knowledge also one thing as I am not from art background so i think it will be better for my career if i start from junior level......If you know any good position for me just let me know....these days are really hard ......

hell no boy. u should aim for a junior art director in a proper mainstream agency, then work your way up to an art director.

don't get stuck in being a designer (if your ultimate goal is art direction).

also when u sign off, sign off as art director. web designing and stuff do on the side as freelance.

i make logos and brochures as well, but not for my agency.
