I always thought the internet was the most democratic space around, until I submitted a comment to an article on AFAQS today. This is what the site threw up:
it made me feel that if my comment offended the advertisers/readers of the site, then they would conveniently omit it. I understand spam policy and all, and I am a member of more internet comunities than most people I know, and no where have I read this kind of a comment-moderation message.
AFAQS is undemocratic?

why do our creatively bankrupt agencies depend so heavily on stars to make their brands grow? some of the biggest brands in the world, Apple, Google, The Hathaway shirt, Volkswagen Beetle etc, have had no celebrity endorsements ever. Neeither have some of the biggest brands in India ever (until agencies lost all sense fo creativity), like Liril, Thums Up, Nirma, Wheel, Frooti etc.
the crores that you spend on celebrity endorsements may well be spent on new media, better consumer promos, more funds for a better film, better still photography, better media visibility etc.
its sad that the so called 'creative' industry of ours has to hide behind the stars to prove their salaries. they could actually do justice to clients' money by spending it wisely.
